Chiropractic care helped me!

Carlsbad Chiropractor

Dr. Jacobs was Voted 'Best Chiropractor' by the San Diego Magazine Readers Survey.

For years I suffered from colds, allergies and bronchitis, and was put on antibiotics 3 or 4 times each year. It had been going on for so long, that I thought this just was the way it was always going to be. But I was wrong! After starting chiropractic care I noticed that things started changing. Not all at once but slowly over time. That was 22 years ago, and I have not had bronchitis or needed an antibiotic ever since.

I grew up in South Africa and was introduced to chiropractic in my teens by my step dad, Dr. Felix Starker, who is a chiropractor. I was always amazed at the miraculous and life changing results he achieved for his patients. What struck me at the time was wow, no drugs or surgery, just his expertise and his bare hands placed on the spine at the perfect level and delivering a gentle force to correct the problem. I wanted to be able to do that to. At the time I was studying Civil Engineering and decided that I would go to the USA to study chiropractic at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa.

Chiropractic Education

Dr. Jacobs began his pre-chiropractic education at St Mary's in Davenport Iowa, where he studied the basic sciences such as inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, along with basic physiology and anatomy courses.

After completing his study there, he was accepted at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. During his four years at Palmer, courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the Palmer College Public Clinic. After graduating in 1987 Dr. Jacobs first practiced in Ottumwa, Iowa and then in 1995 established his practice here in Carlsbad, CA.

We love skeptics! I still remember the concerns and apprehension I had when I got my first chiropractic treatment. So we make it a point to answer all questions and explain everything in advance, no surprises. We use gentle techniques and patients appreciate that.

Dr. Jacobs is happily married to the love of his life, Angie. They have 3 children and are excited to have a new addition to their family, Jonathan, there first grand child. They love living in Southern California and frequent the local beaches.

Being healthy and feeling good, doesn't just happen. It takes discipline and the repetition of good healthy habits. Dr Jacobs gets a chiropractic adjustment each week, studies nutrition and does some sort of exercise on a daily basis.

Dr. Jacobs Asks some important questions of interest to Carlsbad residents - Chiropractor Carlsbad Dr. Jacobs Asks...

Do chiropractors prescribe medications for the pain?
No. Chiropractic is a drug-free approach to better health. Instead, we rely on natural methods. We can show you how to use ice to control pain. When properly applied, ice can have an analgesic effect without the unwanted and sometimes dangerous effects of pain medications.
What happens if you stop chiropractic care when you feel better?
Many Carlsbad folks recognize that this predisposes you to a relapse. Chiropractors know that muscles and ligaments supporting the spine don't fully heal until after symptoms subside.
